Project Narrative

Camo is a fine-dining RestoBar that reimagines experiential dining through architecture as narrative. The design evolves from the angular logic of an existing structure, where a mirrored angular addition engages in a deliberate dialogue with the original form. This spatial conversation gives rise to a central courtyard, conceived as the heart of the project and the first emotional anchor of the dining journey.

The courtyard is both theatrical and welcoming. An angular wrapped staircase animates the space, drawing guests upward towards the rooftop terrace while simultaneously guiding them inward along a central pathway. The arrival sequence is layered and evocative, framed by glimpses of outdoor seating, the sculptural geometry of the courtyard, and a linear fountain tracing the compound edge. Together, these elements establish a sense of anticipation, setting the tone for a curated spatial experience.

Camo’s architectural language is intrinsically tied to its culinary identity. With an Indian specialty menu centred around tandoors and grills, the design adopts a rustic, grounded, and muted aesthetic that complements the warmth of the cuisine. Inspired by the modest grandeur of Turkish bazaars, the space integrates courtyards, water features, and open-air seating, unified by a palette of muddy Mediterranean lime-clay plaster that lends both warmth and tactile richness.

The two angular volumes, while bound by material continuity, express distinct spatial characters. The rectangular volume on the left offers a relaxed, social dining environment. Bench seating softened with planters, linear cane pendant lights, and edge-aligned sofas frame the space, while a bold bar anchors the experience. Clad in black cobble tiles with a grooved black granite counter and a marble-topped surface, the bar becomes both a visual and functional centrepiece. Opposite it, a long wall with debossed abstract forms subtly references Persian motifs, adding depth without ornamentation.

In contrast, the right volume unfolds under a pyramidical roof crowned by a skylight, allowing daylight to animate the interiors. A stepped ceiling draws the eye inward, while the live kitchen, finished in dark chocolate terracotta bricks, introduces texture and warmth. Formal community tables coexist with casual seating, and full-height windows open the interiors to surrounding courtyards and outdoor dining, blurring the boundary between inside and out.

A bridge spanning the central reception connects the two volumes, symbolically unifying choice and movement. Beyond the interiors, the compound expands into an immersive retreat with rooftop dining at Sora, a private bar for events, and intimate outdoor settings. Through fountains, greenery, live kitchens, and communal spaces, Camo emerges as a self-contained sensory escape, where architecture and gastronomy converge to create an atmosphere of understated luxury and timeless charm.
