Project Narrative
At the heart of Antaraa is a restrained material palette dominated by warm, uniform wood tones that traverse the home, providing visual continuity and comfort. Each room serves multiple purposes: bedrooms are not just for sleeping but also function as private retreats. Bay window seating is integrated into every room, offering personal nooks for reading, reflection, or quiet moments. These intimate corners inspired the name of the home, becoming small emotional pauses that punctuate daily life.
The daughter’s room balances movement and stillness, with an open floor for dance and modular study elements that encourage creativity. Custom cabinetry and glass-fronted drawers display her art supplies, while movable peg shelves evolve with her needs. Hand-painted details around cabinet handles add personality and charm. Similarly, the son’s room is designed for clarity and minimal fuss, showcasing his car model collection through well-lit display units. His study table curves under a wooden light strip, and smart side tables maintain organization, reflecting his clean, functional aesthetic.
The multi-functional family study doubles as a reading and workspace, featuring an L-shaped desk with adjustable shelves and a Murphy bed for guests. The bay window here holds shelves for collectibles, while the sofa provides a flexible spot for work or leisure. The master bedroom is a calm retreat, combining wood, soft-polished surfaces, and open shelving for books. A cozy corner by the French window invites reflection, while the woven headboard and minimal furnishings create a balanced, restful environment.
Living spaces embrace openness and light: the sunlit living room features full-height French windows, beige furniture with brass accents, and a wooden cabinet that balances display and storage. The mandir is discreetly tucked beside the TV cabinet, maintaining serenity without disrupting the rhythm of the living area. The dining area blends functionality with warmth, featuring a long wooden bench and sculptural totem inspired by South Indian columns, while the kitchen fosters connection with dual islands for cooking, prep, and conversation.
The entrance and exterior elements offer thoughtful gestures: custom cabinets organize daily essentials, earthen pots add tactile charm, and a totem and metal Tree of Life signal resilience and continuity.
